Valley City, Ohio – Christmas in the Valley has increased the “festive meter” two fold by adding a Hermes Cleveland timed 5K, North Pole Parlor pop up pub, expanded chili cook off, train rides, horse drawn taxi service and the committee welcomes you to visit several new businesses on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 10am-4pm in this quaint little town known for being the Frog Jump Capital of Ohio.  The event begins on Saturday, December 7th with a 5:30 pm lighting of the memorial tree at The Depot Museum, 6615 Center Road followed by a 6:00pm Community Sing-a-long at this year’s host church, Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 6656 Center Road.

“Our town and Chamber have really come together for this event,” says Linda Garrett, owner of A Room With A View Studio and co-chair of the Christmas in the Valley Committee along with Mary Ann Bauer of Bauer Funeral Home.  “The Valley City Community Group is partnering with the Northern Medina County Chamber Alliance to bring this event to the community.  Funds raised go to support local business and improve life and the beauty of Valley City.  We have five new businesses in town, all participating since last year’s event.  Farmers Insurance Peacey Agency is our Premier Sponsor for the 5K/1 Mile Fun Run & Dog Walk and finishes at their agency on Center Road with treats provided by Sheetz.  The North Pole Parlor will be set up at Amy’s Arbors new event center, 6780 Center Road, with libations from hot chocolate to spirited toddy’s in a commemorative mug; Elsa from Frozen will be making an appearance with a frozen selfie station!  The 2nd annual chili cook off has 15 business participants spread throughout 14 venues this year with 3 Judges:  Judge Kevin Dunn, Medina County Court of Common Pleas Probate/Juvenile Division; Mr. Ron Falcone, Mayor of Brunswick; and Judge Joyce Kimbler, Medina County Common Pleas Court.  Enjoy free tastings and a $5 raffle ticket which gets you a vote for the people’s choice award and chance to win a grand gift basket worth at least $400.  Buckeye students are participating in an Art Show to be displayed at Coffee in the Valley and Amy’s Arbors Event Center.  The Best in Show will appear on next year’s Christmas in the Valley program.  The Buckeye Marching Band will again be parading Santa down Center Road at 12:30pm to the Depot Museum with a few more parade extras you’ll have to come to see!  The Liverpool Township Historical Society will have Santa’s goodies for all the Christmas wishes you’d like to share from 1pm to 4pm.  At most venues, along with Holiday Marketplace shopping beginning at 11am, you’ll find activities for young and old including cookie decorating at Samosky’s where Rupert the Camel and friends are waiting outside, garden swag making, sponsor giveaways, entertainment, ornaments and paper crafts, games and train rides.  Grab a program at any venue with a red Christmas in the Valley flag flying and the map will guide you.  Stop at the Valley City Community Group table at the Old Town Hall for your raffle ticket and deposit your vote.  Judges Trophy and the People’s Choice Award will be announced from the steps of the Old Town Hall at 4pm.”  For more information, complete schedule and participation in the 5K/Fun Run & Dog Walk: or
