Zoning Commission meetings are held the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm at the Township Offices located at 6801 School Street, Valley City.

The Zoning Commission conducts  flood plain reviews for dwellings.  The Commission may also assist, if requested, in reviewing certain site plan reviews in the C, I, or M districts, and is responsible for making recommendations for amendments and supplements to the Zoning Resolution of the Township to the Township Board of Trustees. There are several ways in which amendments or supplements to the Zoning Resolution may be initiated:

  1. A resolution passed by the Board of Trustees
  2. The filing of an application by one or more individual land owners
  3. By the members of the Zoning Commission
  4. As requested by the Zoning Inspector to clear up confusing or possibly contradictory passages in the Zoning Resolution, or to address previously unaddressed issues that arise.

The Zoning Commission is made up of 5 members who are appointed by the Township Trustees for a term of 5 years. Alternate members of the Board are appointed for a term of 1 year.
